The School Day
ARRIVAL
Students who arrive at SIS before 8:55 a.m. should be dropped off parallel to the walkway by the playing field and must report to the cafeteria. It is important for you to know that there is no adult supervision before 8:30 a.m. and it is unsafe to leave your child before that time. Parents who need to park and enter the school prior to 9:00 a.m. should park in the upper lot, as there is no parking in the drop area until after 9:00 a.m. Students should be in their classrooms by 9:00 a.m. and attendance is taken shortly after. The children who are not in their homerooms at 9:00 a.m. are considered late. Please make every effort to ensure that your child arrives on time for school each day.
PARENT PICKUP PROCESS
The last period of our school day ends at 3:15 p.m. and instruction continues until that time. Regular dismissal to buses is at 3:19 p.m. for 3rd grade and 3:21 p.m. for 4th and 5th grades.
As our school continues to grow, we ask that you do your best to limit the number of times you pick up your child at the end of the day. There are, however, occasional circumstances that require students to leave early. On these occasions, parents who wish to pick up their child early from school must send them with a note each time to your child's teacher. If unforeseen changes arise, please call the office no later than 1:00 PM. Phone calls are preferred as emails may not be read in time to make your requested change. No students may be picked up from the office between 3:00 and 3:15. You should arrive for early dismissal at 3:15 p.m. When you enter the campus you should take an immediate right hand turn. Drive all the way to the beginning of the upper lot. At point “A” you will see a staff member. Stop and inform that person of your child’s name. You will be asked to sign out your child. Please be sure you have photo identification with you. Drive completely around the upper parking lot and back down to point “B”. There your child will then be delivered to your car. A second staff member will help your child into the vehicle. You will not need to park or get out of your car! As you leave the pickup area, please be mindful of oncoming traffic as the road is narrow in some areas. |
DELAYED OPENINGS AND EARLY DISMISSALS
